Editorial Layouts

This booklet is the result of two classes of typography and many assignments to practice what I've learned.
Typography and Design

For this assignment, I was given the task of choosing one of two or three texts provided and creating an acceptable and appealing layout. I chose to work with the color orange instead of picking the obvious pink or other more feminine colors to fit with the theme of the text. The flower pattern which helped associate the piece with women was carried throughout the entirety of the booklet by incorporating the flower near the page numbers and having them fall off the edge of the page. The cohesiveness of the booklet was also shown through the use of orange type for the headers, page numbers, and leading letter of the first page.

To avoid making the type look clunky with my small font choice, instead of indenting each paragraph I chose to add a space in-between each section. This allows the readers' eyes to pause and relax, not being overwhelmed by a constant flow of text. Any "rivers" in the blocks of text were removed by changing the spacing, and any orphan/widow words were dealt with the same way.
